Limited Lifetime Warranty and Disclaimer

⚠ Life-Safety Warning: Read Before You Buy or Install

WARNING: RISK OF DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY. THE INVINCIBOLT LOCK CANNOT BE UNLOCKED, OPENED OR REMOVED FROM INSIDE THE BUILDING. WHEN IT IS LOCKED, THE DOOR CANNOT BE USED AS AN EXIT, INCLUDING IN A FIRE OR OTHER EMERGENCY. ANYONE INSIDE CAN BE TRAPPED.

The InvinciBolt Lock is made for one purpose: securing a building, or a unit within a building, while it is completely empty of people. Follow every rule below.

  • Only lock it when no one is inside. Before you lock the door, check the whole building or unit, including the basement, attic, closets, crawl spaces and any attached garage, and confirm that no person or pet is inside.
  • Never lock it while anyone lives, stays, works or visits inside. This includes tenants, owners, family members, house sitters, contractors, cleaners and showing agents. Unlock every InvinciBolt Lock on the building before anyone goes in through any door or opening. Whoever goes in should keep a key so no one can lock the door behind them.
  • Remove it before anyone moves in or stays overnight. Reinstall a standard deadbolt that opens from the inside.
  • Never put it on a door that someone else needs to get out. That includes a shared entrance or hallway door in a duplex, apartment building, office building or mixed-use building.
  • Never use it to keep a tenant or lawful occupant out. Locking out anyone with a legal right to be in a property is against the law in many places, including under Kentucky landlord-tenant law where it applies. That remains true after rent goes unpaid or a lease ends, until possession has been lawfully recovered.
  • Never use it to hold or confine any person.
  • It is not an everyday lock. Do not use it as the regular lock on a home or business that people use.
  • Keep keys with the person responsible for the property, so the door can be opened quickly if anyone needs to get in.
  • Follow your local codes. Fire and building codes generally require exit doors in occupied buildings to open from the inside without a key. Some cities also have their own rules for securing vacant property. You are responsible for knowing and following the rules where you install the lock.

Who We Are

This warranty is given by Invincibolt Locks LLC, a Kentucky limited liability company (“we,” “us”). It covers the InvinciBolt Lock sold at invinciboltlocks.com or by a seller we have authorized.

What This Warranty Covers

We warrant that the InvinciBolt Lock will be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use, when it is installed and used following our instructions and the Life-Safety Warning on this page.

  • The lock, other than the keyed locking component: covered for as long as the original purchaser owns the lock (limited lifetime).
  • The keyed locking component (the part the key operates, and the keys supplied with it): covered for one year from the date the lock is delivered to the original purchaser.
  • The included drill bit: a tool that wears out with use. It is covered only if it arrives damaged or defective and you tell us within 30 days of delivery.

The lifetime coverage stays in place if you remove the lock and reinstall it on another property, as long as each installation follows our instructions.

Who Is Covered

This warranty is for the original purchaser: the person or business that bought the lock new, from us at invinciboltlocks.com or from a seller we have authorized, for its own use and not for resale. It cannot be transferred to anyone else.

You do not need to register the lock to be covered. Your order record or other proof of purchase is enough.

What This Warranty Does Not Cover

This warranty does not cover:

  • Damage caused by installation that does not follow our instructions, or by drilling into wiring, pipes or anything else inside the door or wall.
  • Use on anything other than a single, side-hinged, swinging exterior entry door in sound condition with a solid, secure frame. That excludes sliding doors, double doors, windows, gates and any other use.
  • Use against the Life-Safety Warning on this page.
  • The door, frame, hinges, walls or any other part of the building, or damage to any of them from installing, using or removing the lock.
  • Damage from forced entry, attempted forced entry, cutting tools, drilling, prying, vandalism or other attack. (Damage from an attack is not a defect in material or workmanship.)
  • Damage from accident, misuse, abuse, neglect, modification, or repair by anyone other than us.
  • Damage from fire, flood, lightning, earthquake, storms or other natural events.
  • Normal wear, normal weathering, and rust, corrosion or discoloration of surfaces, including from chemicals or air pollution, unless it stops the lock from working.
  • Lost, stolen or copied keys, or the cost of getting into a property when the keys are not available.
  • Labor or other costs to remove, reinstall or replace the lock.

How to Make a Warranty Claim

Please contact us within 60 days after you notice the problem. We will not turn down a later claim for lateness unless the delay made the problem worse or kept us from being able to check it.

By mail: Invincibolt Locks LLC, Attn: Warranty Claims, 2002 Frog Pond Way, Louisville, KY 40245.

Please include:

  1. Your name, or your company’s name, and how to reach you.
  2. Your order number or other proof of purchase.
  3. A description of the problem and when you noticed it.
  4. Photos or video of the lock and of how it is installed.
  5. Whether the lock is installed now, and if so, the address where it can be inspected.

We will respond within 10 business days after we receive your claim. If we need the lock back to inspect it, we will send you a prepaid shipping label. We will tell you our decision within 10 business days after we receive the lock, or, if we do not need the lock, after we receive the information listed above.

What We Will Do

If we confirm that the lock, or a part of it, has a defect covered by this warranty, we will do one of the following, at our choice:

  • repair it,
  • replace it, or the defective part, and pay to ship the replacement to you, or
  • refund the price you paid for the lock.

If we cannot repair or replace it within 30 days after we confirm your claim, we will refund the price you paid for the lock.

A repaired or replacement lock is covered for the rest of the original coverage period. If the lock is no longer made, we may replace it with a product of equal or better quality and function. We may change our products at any time.

Returning an Unused Lock

A lock that has not been installed or used may be returned within 30 days after delivery under our Terms of Sale. A lock that arrives damaged or defective is handled under this warranty, and we pay the shipping both ways.

Installation Is Your Responsibility

You install the lock, or you hire someone to install it. We do not install it and we do not supervise installation. Before drilling, you are responsible for:

  • confirming the door and frame are suitable and in sound condition
  • checking for hidden wiring and other hazards
  • following our instructions, the drill maker’s instructions and any local codes
  • wearing eye protection while drilling

No Lock Can Stop Every Break-In

The InvinciBolt Lock is built to make forced entry harder. But no lock can prevent every forced entry, and determined intruders can still get in through doors, windows, walls or roofs. The lock is not a substitute for insurance, monitoring or inspecting the property. We do not promise that a property will not be entered, stolen from, damaged or occupied without permission.

Use Restrictions and Assumption of Risk

By buying the InvinciBolt Lock, you agree to install and use it only as described on this page. If you install the lock, or leave it locked, on a building or unit while anyone is inside, or against any part of the Life-Safety Warning, you do so at your own risk. You accept responsibility for the results to the fullest extent the law allows.

Limits on Implied Warranties

ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY AND THE IMPLIED WARRANTY OF FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, LAST ONLY AS LONG AS THIS LIMITED WARRANTY. FOR THE KEYED LOCKING COMPONENT AND KEYS, THEY LAST ONE YEAR FROM DELIVERY. FOR THE REST OF THE LOCK, THEY LAST FOR AS LONG AS THE ORIGINAL PURCHASER OWNS IT. WE MAKE NO EXPRESS WARRANTIES OTHER THAN THOSE ON THIS PAGE.

Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.

Limitation of Remedies and Liability

YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY FOR A DEFECT IN THE INVINCIBOLT LOCK IS REPAIR, REPLACEMENT OR REFUND AS DESCRIBED UNDER “WHAT WE WILL DO.”

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, INVINCIBOLT LOCKS LLC IS NOT LIABLE FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY KIND. THAT INCLUDES THEFT, LOSS OF OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY OR ITS CONTENTS, VANDALISM, OCCUPANCY BY ANYONE WITHOUT PERMISSION, DAMAGE TO DOORS OR FRAMES, LABOR COSTS, LOST RENT AND LOST PROFITS. THIS APPLIES WHETHER A CLAIM IS BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, NEGLIGENCE, STRICT LIABILITY OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO AN INVINCIBOLT LOCK WILL NOT EXCEED THE PRICE YOU PAID FOR THAT LOCK.

THE EXCLUSION OF INCIDENTAL AND CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES AND THE LIMIT ON TOTAL LIABILITY ARE SEPARATE FROM THE EXCLUSIVE REMEDY ABOVE, AND THEY APPLY EVEN IF THAT REMEDY FAILS OF ITS ESSENTIAL PURPOSE.

NONE OF THESE LIMITS APPLIES TO DEATH OR PERSONAL INJURY, WHATEVER THE LEGAL THEORY OF THE CLAIM, OR TO DAMAGE CAUSED BY OUR GROSS NEGLIGENCE, WILLFUL MISCONDUCT OR FRAUD. THEY ALSO DO NOT APPLY TO ANY OTHER LIABILITY THAT THE LAW DOES NOT ALLOW TO BE LIMITED OR EXCLUDED.

Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.

Business and Resale Buyers

If you buy the InvinciBolt Lock for use in a business, you also agree to these terms. Business use includes managing, preserving, investing in, renting or building property.

  • You will make sure everyone who installs, locks, unlocks or removes the lock for you knows and follows the Life-Safety Warning. That includes your employees, contractors and vendors.
  • You will defend, indemnify and hold us harmless from claims by others arising from the lock’s installation or use by you or anyone acting for you, or from failure to follow this page. This does not apply to the extent a claim is caused by a defect covered by this warranty or by our own negligence.
  • Any lawsuit about the lock must be filed within one year after the claim arises.
  • Any lawsuit must be brought in the state courts located in Jefferson County, Kentucky, or in the United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky, Louisville Division.

If you buy locks to resell, this warranty is not extended to you. Instead it runs to your customer, provided we have authorized you as a seller. You agree to give each customer this page, including the Life-Safety Warning. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no implied warranties, including THE IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY AND THE IMPLIED WARRANTY OF FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, to buyers who purchase for resale.

Governing Law and Disputes

This warranty is governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and applicable federal law. If you are a consumer, you keep any protections of the laws of the state where you live that cannot be waived by agreement.

If you have a problem, please contact us first at [email protected]. Most issues can be settled quickly that way. If we cannot resolve it within 30 days, either of us may bring the matter in a small claims court or another court that has jurisdiction, except that business buyers must use the courts named under “Business and Resale Buyers.” This warranty does not require arbitration.

Your Rights Under State Law

This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.

Other Terms

  • This page is the complete warranty for the InvinciBolt Lock. No employee, agent, seller or other person may change it, orally or in writing.
  • If you bought your lock before the effective date of this page, you have the coverage described on this page, and nothing on this page takes away any right you had under the version in effect when you bought. The earlier 30-day registration requirement is waived for everyone. The terms under “Business and Resale Buyers” apply only to purchases made on or after the effective date.
  • We may update this page. An update will not reduce the coverage that applied when you bought your lock.
  • Our Terms of Sale also apply to purchases from invinciboltlocks.com.
  • If any part of this page is found unenforceable, that part will be enforced to the greatest extent the law allows, and the rest of the page stays in effect.
